I couldn’t resist to post this 2011 news and award winning product of innovative technology, just to keep it on records and for those who have never heard of it. Bubbledeck is an interesting product described as a prefab concrete deck composed of hollow recycled plastic spheres in steel-bar cages, that saves material, lightens the foundation load bearing and speeds up construction. It is only used as non-structural slab and doesn’t need any formwork. Also for those that seek Life cycle costs and sustainability points, well this product saves a lot in installation, maintenance and raw materials. To add more to it, flyash can be added to concrete which makes it even lighter.
